The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee is pleased to announce that it has endorsed the guidance document on ‘Genotoxicity Testing’ during its meeting on 30 March 2021.
During 2020, an Expert Working Group composed of dedicated regulatory authorities and industry experts from the founding ICCF members was created to establish recommended approaches for the evaluation of the genotoxic potential of feed ingredients. The draft document built on consensus of the experts was submitted for Public Consultation in December 2020. Comments from different stakeholders were received, assessed, and addressed, where applicable by the Expert Working Group, before finalising the Guidance Document.
This document provides guidance to applicants by providing them with the information necessary to conduct safety evaluations of feed ingredients. It provides an approach on how tests should be organised, as well as a description of the tests themselves. The guidance document builds on existing international guidance documents.

About ICCF
The International Cooperation for the Convergence of Technical requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) was created in 2017. It was founded by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the European Commission (DG SANTE)1 and the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures (FEFANA), and the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF). The ICCF aims at developing science-based technical guidance documents supporting the feed industry in assessing their products and to aid in the preparation of pre-market assessment submissions.
